Least Favourite Women's Player
There are actually quite a few players on the WTA circuit that I don't like that much. But I think my least favourite player would have to be Jelena Jankovic.
She's whingy and sour and annoying and find her really hard to stomach.
In fact, unless she's playing someone I really love - then I'd more than likely switch of any coverage of her matches.
Semi Finalists: Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki and Andrea Petkovic.

Day Four: 30 Days of Tennis Challenge
Least Favourite Men's Player
Hands down, Andy Murray.
I think the main reason I dislike him so much, is because he always whinges about something, anything, everything. Whenever I watch his matches, which I'll be honest is almost never, he always whinges about something stupid and when he whinges, he carries on like there is no tomorrow and I find it beyond annoying!
Plus he also always looks sour. And the way he overreacts to everything irks me.
Runner-up for the title: Radek Stepanek - for very similar reasons to Murray.

Day Three: 30 Days of Tennis Challenge
Favourite Doubles Team
I don't really have a favourite doubles team, per se. I guess that's because doubles is hardly ever televised and players seem to switch partners quite regularly. But if I was going to pick a team that always play together, then I would probably choose The Bryan Brothers.
Aside from being an awesome doubles team, I mean their records and titles speak for themselves, I like the way the conduct themselves on court. I also really like that they always look like their having fun and I love their chest bumps! haha.
The Bryan Brothers also really remind me of a guy I went to school with and swam with through my teenage years. I dunno, it's something in the face!
I was lucky to pick one favourite doubles team, so I don't have a "Final 8" for this question, but I will say that my runners-up team would be John Isner and Sam Querrey (aka Quisner). Two of my favourite men's singles players, playing doubles together - what more do I have to say!?! I just wish they'd play more regularly!!
And in a very distant third, and only because I love the "team name" the media dubbed them with, it would be Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish (aka Fish 'N' Rod). Hehe!!

Day Two: 30 Days of Tennis Challenge
Favourite Women's Player
This is a tough one for me. But I think I'll have to go with Sam Stosur.
There are many reasons why I love Sammy!! Starting with her fighting capabilities! OK yes, she is very fragile at times and can be very inconsistent, but there have been plenty of times where you would, or should have counted her out and she's come back to win!
Another testament to her fighting capabilities is the success she has had in recent years after missing a significant portion of time on the tour whilst she fought Lyme disease.
I've seen her play live a couple of times, including being there to witness what most would consider the best win of her career: The 2011 US Open Women's Final win over Serena Williams.
That match was amazing! She came out swinging and firing and Serena (and the majority of the Flushing Meadows crowd) didn't know what hit them! It was amazing and I loved every minute of it!!
The Final 8: Kim Clijsters, Agnieszka Radwanska, Ana Ivanovic, Daniela Hantuchova, Jarmila Gajdosova, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Na Li.

Day One: 30 Days of Tennis Challenge
Favourite Men's Player
In January 2009 I took my mum to the Australian Open as a birthday present. Prior to that I wasn't "that" interested in tennis. I mean, I would watch occasionally on TV, but I never would have thought I would be as interested in it as I've become.
On that first day at the Australian Open in 2009, we had a ground pass so I told mum to pick which match she wanted to go and watch. She chose a match between John Isner and Dominik Hrbaty on some obscure back court.
From that moment my true love of tennis was born! I had the best 10 days in Melbourne and now I am completely and utterly obsessed.
My favourite men's player is John Isner. He was the first live match I ever saw and I have been following his career closely ever since. Often that involves waking at ridiculous hours of the morning to watch his matches!
One of my favourite things about him is his demeanour on court. His facial expressions never cease to make me laugh! In a sport where most players are either poker faced, or completely over the top in their actions to pump themselves up, his looks of exasperation, smirks, and everything in between make me laugh!
Here is some photographic proof of what I'm talking about:
I'm hoping he will have a good run at Roland Garros this year - he's already looking better than last year! This year he is seeded #10 and drew a qualifier... Last year he drew Rafael Nadal - It's amazing the difference a year makes!!
The Final 8: Roger Federer, Juan Martin Del Potro, Bernie Tomic, Sam Querrey, Nicolas Mahut, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish

Aunty Gok made me over!!
On Sunday last week, I had a once in a lifetime opportunity! I got made over by Gok Wan!
Aunty Gok was in the middle of his Westfield tour, and that included a stop at Westfield Chermside.
I was one of the main parts of the show.
My part involved me being dressed in ridiculously baggy, oversized clothes and going out on stage so Gok could snip, tuck, cinch and clip the clothes in a more flattering way.
It was so much fun! Aunty Gok is a HOOT!
Here are a couple of shots from the day :)

Katrina's Wedding
Last Saturday, the daughter of one of my parent's oldest friends got married! Katrina's parents and my parents have been friends since long before either of us were born.
It was such a beautiful day: from the stunningly clear blue sky, to the bride and her sisters, to the table settings!!
My day started at the hair dresser, my hair was long over due for a colour refresher, so while I was there my amazing hair dresser put my hair up into an updo for me. This was how my hair ended up:
I loved it!!!
Katrina's parents, my parents, my pseudo parents and another friend Sam's parents have been friends for so long. My pseudo mum couldn't make it, and obviously my pseudo dad is no longer with us. But it was really nice to celebrate with everyone. It's a shame pseudo dad is no longer here, he would have absolutely loved the wedding. He would have completely been in his element.
Here are a couple of photos from after the ceremony.
This is my brother and I:
And this is Sam (mentioned above) and I:
And finally this is a photo of us all from the reception:
It was such a wonderful day. Congratulations to the beautiful couple!

Brunch, Lunch and a Movie
On Thursday last week, Siany had an RDO so we made the most of it and met up for brunch at Cockadoodle. This really cute/quirky cafe at Red Hill. Siany lives quite close by and loves the place. I worked on the sale of the business before it became Cockadoodle about 18 months ago. This was my second outing there! We both ordered the crepes. I had fresh strawberries and warm melted chocolate, while Siany had the maple syrup crepes.
They were divine!
I had intended to take a photo of them, but they were in my belly before I could remember!!
From there I went and met up with my pseudo mummy for lunch. We went to The Gap Tavern. It is kind of our regular lunch spot. It's about the only place that has decent lunch food that's close to us both.
While we were there we decided to go to the movies and see "The Five Year Engagement".
I really liked it. It was cute and had some funny one liners in it.
We were 2 of 4 people in the showing. The other two were this old couple. When they walked into the theatre pseudo mum asked me if they were in the right cinema... We both agreed that they probably weren't... Well they sat through it and then left with about 15 minutes to go. Pseudo mum and I couldn't understand why they'd sat through that much of it, to leave as it was finishing...?!
Oh well, we both enjoyed it and it capped of a lovely day!

QLD Reds - Ladies in Red function
On Thursday night I went to the first annual "Ladies in Red" function hosted by the Queensland Reds.
It was a great evening! As Westfield Chermside was a sponsor, my darling friend Siany was there - and we always have a good time :) The fact Westfield was a sponsor, was also the reason they had the Corporate Box for Sunday afternoons game!! (See previous entry ;)!!)
There were a few players there to partake in the fashion parades and I managed to grab a photo with Qld Red's captain James Horwill. At 6'7" he was still taller than me when I had heels on!! And we all know how much I love it when that happens!! I just had to get photographic proof! HAHA.

Reds v Chiefs
So I was sitting on my couch, just after 4pm when I got a text from my friend Siany.
"Can you get to Suncorp Stadium?!? We have
pull outs. I have their tickets & tickets to the after
party. Park in Richter's driveway!! Come come come!"
Basically, Sian and her Westfield crew had a corporate box at Suncorp Stadium for the Reds game.
I flew through the house, threw on jeans, a shirt and heels. Threw makeup on my face and ran out the door! I was out the door in 20mins and at the stadium by half time. That must be some kind of record!
It was a fabulous afternoon. And the Reds won!! So that was exciting!!
After the match, we all headed to one of the functions rooms at Suncorp for the "Official After Party". This basically entailed us standing around drinking, with the players making a brief appearance.
We all then headed to my favourite place, Iceworks, for a few extra drinks and some nibbles!
It was such a fabulous afternoon. I love when spur of the moment plans turn into awesome adventures!!
Thanks so much for the invite Siany!! Love you!!

Review Dress
While I was shopping in Sydney I found this really cute lace Review dress on the clearance rack at Myer. Unfortunately it was a size 12 and it was too big.
When Pseudo mum and I went to high tea, we went shopping after and while we were in Myer, I found the same dress in a size 10! I was stoked, I tried it on, and could probably have fitted into an 8, but they didn't have one, so I grabbed the 10!
Here are a couple of photos!

High Tea @ Room With Roses
On Tuesday when I got back from Sydney I got a text from my Pseudo mum, asking me if I wanted to go to High Tea on the following day. Of course I said yes!
I wore a long black maxi dress with lace detailing on the neckline with my new Wayne by Wayne Cooper strappy heels.

Sydney Weekend
Last Saturday, I flew to Sydney for the long weekend we had in Queensland. Monday was Labour Day in Queensland, so I wanted to make the most of the weekend. It was also my friend Mel's 30th birthday celebration!
I stayed with my friend C and his girlfriend M. C and I went to high school together and we've been very good friends for more than 8 years now!
I arrived at lunch time and C picked me up from the airport and took me back to his place. The three of us then went out for a late lunch.
Saturday night I got dressed up and headed to Darling Harbour to meet Mel and the girls for dinner. After getting lost and not being able to find the restaurant I finally got myself to the right spot!! We had a lovely dinner at Kazbah. We then walked over to the Shellbourne Hotel, where Mel had reserved a space for us. We drank, danced and had a great time!! Mel, who is a fabulous baker/cake decorator, made her own cake! She did an incredible job and it tasted divine!!

It was lovely to be able to celebrate Mel's birthday with her!
On the Sunday I headed out to Manly to meet up with my friend S. We went and watched her local league team play in a local derby! S and her friends have a lot of experience with these afternoons and were very well prepared with bubbles, vino, cheese and crackers!! It made for a lovely afternoon in the sun! After that, we headed back to the Harbord Beach Hotel, the local club house of the team Sarah supports. It's always good fun to catch up with S! We have a lot in common and always enjoy a good laugh!!
That night, C & I went for a walk to Newtown and grabbed some dinner, while catching up on all the school related goss we had to share.
On the Monday I headed into the city and did a little bit of window shopping. I had lunch at Din Tai Fung, which as always, was amazing! I then met up with Mel and our other friend Val at Ivy for after work drinks!! After a few cocktails, Val headed home and Mel and I headed to Bar 333 to watch Monday night football.
It was such a fabulous weekend! I always love catching up with my friends in Sydney. Hopefully, I will get down there again soon!

Sewing: Anna Sui Dress
So if you've been keeping up to date with my blog, then you would know that I was attempting to learn to sew. I successfully finished a top off of a dress pattern as a size tester! So after finishing that, it was time to start on the dress!!
I found this fabric at Spotlight, it was on the clearance rack for $5p/m! BARGAIN!
I found this fabric at Spotlight, it was on the clearance rack for $5p/m! BARGAIN!
I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with the fabric, I just knew that I couldn't not buy it!!
I was skimming through the pattern books at Spotlight and remembered eyeing off an Anna Sui pattern awhile back. Lucky for me they still had it, so I bought the pattern.
Here is a photo as I was cutting the pattern out:
I was able to do the top very easily, thanks to the practice I had with the tester!!
The skirt however, was much, much, much more difficult! And at that point I had to call mum in for reinforcement ;)
Mum and I managed to finish it before she left for 8 weeks overseas! Which was good, because I took it to Sydney last weekend and wore it to my friend's 30th!
I'm not 100% happy with the fit. It makes me look a bit frumpy... But if I wear it with heels it is ok.
I don't have a photo of the entire dress, but will post some photos from its first outing when I post about my weekend in Sydney!
Next on the agenda is a maxi dress out of a really cute black and white print!

Katrina's Hens
Last Saturday afternoon my mum and I attended the bridal shower of the daughter of one of mum and dad's oldest friends.
Katrina's family and my family have been family friends since long before I was even born!
The bridal shower was a high tea at the Marriott Hotel in Brisbane City. This is also the location of the wedding reception in a few weeks time.
From there a few of the "young ones", including me, headed to Jade Buddah to celebrate the Hens portion of the night and had a few cocktails and nibbles.
Here is a photo of me on the way to the High Tea:
When the "young ones" moved on to Jade Buddah we were each given a "title" by way of a badge! Mine was Disco Diva!
I had a lot of fun celebrating Katrina's Hens day/night with her and can't wait for the wedding in a couple of weeks!!

Shoes, Glorious Shoes!!
Ok, so I am completely and utterly obsessed with shoes. Particularly high heels. I may be 6' (184cm) tall, but I firmly believe you are never too tall for a fabulous pair of 6" heels!!
Last weekend I was at DFO and Tony Bianco had an awesome sale on! So I bought myself two pairs of beautiful heels!
The first pair are a cute pair of lace up ankle boots. I love them and foresee them being very practical throughout winter!
The second pair are a gorgeous pair of two tone pumps!
Both pairs were marked down to $60 and on top of that Tony Bianco had a further 10% off. So I scored both pairs for a grand total of $108!! Bargain!!
Today I drove my brother to a job interview at West End. While I was waiting for him, I ducked over to Indooroopilly and had a browse. I'd been eying off an amazing pair of strappy Wayne by Wayne Cooper heels for a while, but Chermside and Brookside (my local Myer stores) didn't have my size in the black colour. But I found them today and couldn't resist purchasing them!!
I think I'm in love...!
