2011: The Year That Was!

I honestly cannot believe that another year has come and (almost) gone...

2011 definitely had some ups and downs, but all in all it was an OK year. I'm definitely not where I hoped I would be, but it just gives me more to work towards in 2012.

Recap of the year that was:

Highlights:

  • Another fabulous week in Melbourne with my Mumma for the 2011 Australian Open;
  • Admission to the Roll of Legal Practitioners in Queensland Supreme Court;
  • An overseas trip to Japan with great mates, good times and lots of things to reminisce about and laugh for years to come;
  • Moving to the United States of America to pursue my dreams... Even though it hasn't worked out, I'm proud that I did it, and gave it a go;
  • Spending many weekends at Suncorp Stadium with my Darling D watching our beloved Broncos. I was super lucky to score lots of free tickets this year, so in a year when D and I were both saving and thought we wouldn't get to as many games, we actually still got to lots!! I didn't quite make my record of all bar one game which I set in 2009! One day ;)... ;
  • Being there to see Darren Lockyer's final ever State of Origin match, and seeing QLD lift the trophy for the 6th year in a row;
  • Pulling an all-nighter in NYC to watch the Broncos v Dragons, which kicked off at 4am NYC time, and seeing Locky play his final game and kick the winning field goal. I may not have been at the stadium, but I was there in spirit; and
  • Making memories to laugh a lifetime in the 12 weeks I spent in NYC and 8 weeks spent in Atlanta.
I'm choosing not to write down the lowlights, but rather just some things I'd like to improve in 2012.

  • Find a job that combines my degree with my passion;
  • Be more open to possibilities; and
  • Let go of people from the past! They've taken up too much of my time already, it is time to forgive, forget and move on.
Some other things I hope to achieve in 2012 include:

  • Spend more time with the amazing friends I have in my life! You girls (the boys won't read this ;)!!) know who you are. You are the ones I turn to when I am down, you are the ones who know the everyday ups and downs of my life and still standby me. You are the ones who get me through the tough times and will always give me advice when I need. You are the ones I treasure, and I endeavour to spend a lot more time with you all in 2012!
  • Move out of home. We all know it will be a shock for me to return home from almost 6 months overseas full of freedom and have to return to live with my parents. As soon as I have lined a job up, I will be moving out. Whether I'll live by myself or in a share, I'm not sure... But we'll find out sooner rather than later hopefully ;)
  • Get fitter. Since I "retired"/"quit" swimming in 2009, I've been a lazy lazy girl! haha. And my weight and overall body reflects that! in 2012 I want to get a little fitter and little healthier. If I could get back to my swimming weight, I'd be stoked! I figure once I am living a more regimented life (no night shifts, no study etc) this will be easier to maintain!
Let me know what you think!!

Happy New Years Eve to all my friends in Aus!!

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last week. I have been very ill and not had the energy nor brainpower to be literate! I'm starting to get better now, so will recommence posting and my 30 day challenge shortly!

what I wore today!

Tonight I went out to meet up with my friend Tahlia. We went to Icey, our fave place!! Only we forgot that the Queensland Reds were playing across the road that afternoon. Nonetheless, we still had a fantastic evening! Also ran into Siany's hubby Matt and Richter who I went to Japan with! Along with their friend Anthony and his girlfriend Fiona. And then on top of that Tahlz and I ran into another uni friend of ours Stef, who was there on a date!!

My outfit for tonight was:

* black and white vintage dress that mum made;
* black stockings;
* black 'white suede' cropped jacket;
* black leather over the knee, high-heeled boots;
* Wayne by Wayne Cooper cocktail ring;
* H&M necklace;
* Ringleaders diamond white gold and gold ring.

Here is a photo of me and Queensland Reds player Radike Samo after the game!

Please excuse the horrible iPhone photo in which I look yellow!!!

Luggage - Take 2

Ok kiddies, it is cast a vote time again!!

I found two other sets of luggage I am considering, so please cast your vote!

I blogged about the original two sets here!!! So please take a look and decide between the four :)

Set 3:

The only issue with this set is that they don't have a large suitcase, so I would just get a plain black suitcase to team with the leopard print.

Set 4:

You can't really see the detail but there are circles woven into the fabric!

Anyway, let me know what you think? I can't decide!!

My Body

In general, I am happy. I know I could look A LOT ( and I mean A LOT!!!!!!!! ) better than I do! When I was swimming, I was really happy. I had killer abs, and nice legs! Now it is all a bit flabby and blah! But I know that if I wasn't so lazyI could easily lose a couple of kgs and tone everything back up again! I'll get around to it one day... But right now I enjoy being lazy :P

5 Guys I Find Attractive!

I've been very much looking forward to this post!!!

1. John Isner
I have always thought JI was very good looking from the first time I saw him play tennis live in January 2009.

2. Ben Te'o
He's just super cute and super buff, what more can I say!

3. Paul Walker
LOVED him in the original Fast & the Furious, and think he's only got better with age!

4. Gerard Butler
For someone who is 40-odd... I find him strangely attractive. I think the accent helps too!

Trying to decide the last person to make up the 5 is HARD!!! There is someone who isn't famous that I find VERY attractive... But not sure I should publicise that on world wide web. All my girls know who I am talking about... So instead, I'm going to go with:

5. Josh Duhamel
He's cute, and my type, what more is there to say!

Family

Family is very important to me. I have my actual immediate family: Mum, Dad and younger Brother. Then I have my extended blood family and my pseudo parents.

This is a family portrait from my 21st in 2009.

This is a photo of my pseudo parents and I:

My pseudo dad passed away in 2010 and I miss him everyday. He was always such an important part of my life.

Education

My parents always raised me to believe that education is important. They both went to University and they always encouraged my brother and I to attend. Actually, I would have been scared shitless to tell my Dad I wasn't going to Uni, so I just found something I wanted to do and did it.

Having said that, I completely agree. At 17 or whatever it was when I went to Uni, it was just because it was expected. But now I am completely thankful that I was raised to believe that education is important. Now I agree with my parents and think that education is important!!

I am also incredibly proud of my two pieces of paper!

I admit I never really tested myself, or pushed myself. I just did what I had to do to pass, which wasn't much. But it is amazing what you are capable of when you actually have an interest in the subject.

I'll definitely encourage any future children I may have to pursue further education after high school.

Five Pet Peeves

Pet Peeve #1: Tall Guys Dating Short Girls
This is by far my biggest pet peeve! In fact, nothing annoys me more! There are so few tall, attractive men I've met in my life that when I do find one and they're dating a short girl, it really annoys me! Leave the tall ones for the tall girls!!! Ok yes this is superficial, and most people probably think get over it. But I can't help it!

Pet Peeve #2: Being Called Steph Rice
So apparently I look like Steph Rice. I do not see it at all. My family do not see it at all. About the only thing we have in common is we're both fairly tall, with swimmers physique and dark hair. Apparently that makes me her. People at work ALWAYS call me Steph and make smart arse remarks like "Steph, why aren't you at training?". It drives me insane. I wear a name badge at work, and yet people still call me Steph, and they think its funny! IT'S NOT!

Pet Peeve #3: Stingy People
I am all for living within your means and everything, but someone who keeps count of every cent that every person in the world owes annoys me! Especially between friends!! If 6 friends go to dinner and share, the price gets split six ways - no more too it. Someone who whips out the calculator and says well actually the meal I ordered was 0.70c cheaper than yours so actually I owe you 10c less than everyone else. OH MY GOD - chill out. Friends will always pay friends back in some way or another! If you pay $10 more here, it will come back to you at some point.

Pet Peeve #4: Slow Walkers
It really annoys me when people walk slowly in busy public places like shopping centres, from the train station to the football etc etc. It is one thing to just walk slowly, but to walk slowly and aimlessly without a care for those around you, well that just annoys me!!

Pet Peeve #5: Lame Pick Up Lines Relating To My Height
Being 6' tall, a lot of short men like to try height related pick up lines on me. I wish they wouldn't! It is super lame, and I have heard them ALL before! I hate having to feign interest as they tell me that height doesn't matter when you're in bed or that they like a girl they can look up to. Next time, don't bother, it gets you know where with me!

Mainstream Music

While I don't like all "mainstream" music there are some mainstream artists that I am a big fan of.

Taylor Swift for one, I am an unashamed T.Swift fan! I love her music so much!

I also really like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rihanna.

But having said that, I'm not a fan of people making music just for the hell of making music. My music tastes are wide and varied, which you will see when my iTunes shuffle post goes up in a few days!

30 Day Challenge: a message to an ex

Ok so firstly, this message isn't to a "defined" ex. But after everything we went through, he may as well be an ex. So the message I'd like to share with him is:

We've been through so much, both good and bad. We've had our ups, we've had our downs. We had times where we are inseparable, we've had times when we barely speak. But through it all the above has always remained true. For that, I am truly thankful to have you in my life.

You know more about me than everyone else in this world. I have shared some of my most inner, deepest thoughts with you. You've helped me through so much.

I love you, although not romantically like I once did, but rather as an amazing friend. Thank you, having you in my life means everything to me. It just took not having you in my life for awhile for me to realise how much I love having you in it.

Miami won! That is all!

Come On Miami!

Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals is on today, starting at 10am Brisbane time! Miami are playing against Chicago for the Eastern Conference Title. The first two games are played in Chicago, with the second two games played in Miami.

Unfortunately the HEAT went down in game 1, so they're trailing at the moment. But I've got my fingers crossed for a much bigger game from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade!!

Image from Google Images

To win a game in Chicago, on the road, away from home would be an awesome result! So fingers crossed!!

LET'S GO HEAT!!!!

My Day!

I am going to bullet yesterday (Wednesday, 18 May) instead of today, as I write my post the night before. That and I am working from 9 til 5 today with nothing exciting happening before or after work, so Wednesday although still boring, will be slightly more interesting than Thursday! Does that make sense?!

Here we go, my day:

* woke up at 9:30am;
* had a shower, got dressed;
* went to visit my grandmother with my mum- G'ma broke a vertebrae so she is bed ridden at the moment while it heals;
* paid some bills for her and did some shopping for her;
* went to my mum's work (she is does the books and wages for a life long friends chiropractic, naturopathy and massage business);
* had a 1 hours massage, while mum picked up the staff hours and paid bills etc;
* drove home, stopped on the way home to buy meat;
* got served by a REALLY REALLY cute butcher!!!;
* came home, found out Hellcats has been cancelled, not that I watch a show about teenage cheerleaders... cough!;
* watched the finale of Hellcats (well there goes the previous little white lie ;)!;
* ate dinner;
* got dressed for work;
* put my face on;
* went to work for 4 hours;
* came home from work, watched my recorded Spicks 'N' Specks, and then Angry Boys!!
* then I went to sleep.

And that's my day!

A Book I Love

is A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim Gruenenfelder. I stumbled across this book while I was traveling with friends in Canada in January 2008. We were staying at a hostel in Big White, BC and one afternoon I walked into the "library" at the hostel looking for something to read. I should probably point out that I am not a big reader, having studied Law at uni reading is not something I find overly enjoyable. When I do read I like it to be fun, and light - your typical chick lit/rom com... Although having said that I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books, so...

Anyway, I found this book late into our stay in Big White and found I couldn't put it down. I got about half way through when our time there was up, so begrudgingly I left it behind. When we arrived in Seattle we went shopping and stumbled across a Boarders store. My friend wanted to buy a book to read on the plane on the way home as the end of our adventure was fast approaching. So we went in, and I found the book and bought it because I just had to finish it!!

It is your typical chick lit, but I really like and totally understand the author when she says that some days are "a total waste of makeup!"

In February a group of friends and I headed to Japan. We spent 3 days in Tokyo and then 6 days in Niseko skiing!! It was amazing. So I thought, for this Travel Snap Tuesday that I would share some scenic shots of the slopes of Niseko!

I had the time of my life, and love skiing and snow so much!! There is something so peaceful about snow!!

Something I Feel Strongly About

I'm not really sure where I should start with this post, there are so many things that I feel strongly about... Some of them are trivial, some of them are important. Some of them are heartbreaking, some of them make you smile. I guess something that has been weighing on my mind A LOT lately is doing stuff for people in need

I am blessed. I am happy, healthy and have been spoilt to some extent growing up. Other people aren't so lucky. I feel like anyone who can should be helping those in need. So many people are in a worse off state than so many of us, whether it is ill health, down on their luck or growing up in a 3rd world country. Anything anyone can do to put a smile on someones face should be done... That is something I feel very strongly about.

Five Ways To Win My Heart

Day 1 of my 30 Day Challenge, here we go!

Five Ways To Win My Heart:

1. Be Honest:
I will always live by the idea that "honesty is the best policy". Someone who is completely honest with me will have a much better chance with me!

2. Treat Others as You Wish to be Treated:
My friends and loved ones ALWAYS come first! I will always go out of my way for someone I love and more often than not I will do things to keep those I love happy rather than to keep myself happy. It might not be a healthy trait of mine, and I have decided to try and start putting myself first more often, but I will always treat people the way I want to be treated and it is a trait I want in any potential boyfriend!

3. Be Affectionate and Caring:
I like being affectionate and caring and I like a guy who isn't afraid to show me how he feels. It doesn't mean I want to be one of those "PDA" type couples. But a guy who is affectionate and caring towards me, animals, kids etc is highly desirable to me.

4. Be Tall:
Ok, I know this is very superficial, but I am 6' tall and LOVE to wear heels. A sure fire way to my heart is to be taller than me in heels!! I'll be honest, its not a deal breaker... but there has only been 1 guy who is shorter than me that I've really "liked", that I've not cared about the height issue. So the odds are stacked against shorter guys... It's not a look thing, it's just that at 6' tall and of an athletic build, I like to feel feminine and that isn't always easy... Tall guys help that!!

5. Be Sports Orientated:
Most guys out there are looking for a girl who will watch sport with them... I on the other hand am a girl who needs a guy who will watch sport with me!!

How is the weekend over already?

I only had one day off this weekend, which made this weekend much shorter... But even though it was short, I still had a good one :)

Last night was a family friend's engagement party. I spent most of it talking to my pseudo mum and dad's son. So I guess that makes him my pseudo brother... He is much older than me and that was really the first time that we've had a full on chat in years. I really enjoyed chatting to him, it was nice. I see so much of his dad him... It really made me miss his dad even more than I already do...

I really should have taken a photo of my outfit, but I didn't... I wore black stockings, black to the knee pointy leather boots, a pinky-orangey dress and a black trench over the top. (The party was outdoors, and it was cold!!)

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Very, very pretty!

So tonight I was browsing the internet looking at dresses for a wedding I am going to in August. I've never been to a winter wedding before, so I was looking at styles that I thought would be appropriate for an August wedding in Brisbane.

Because I am in the midst of a spending ban, mum, who is an INCREDIBLY talented sewer, had agreed to make me something to wear. So I thought I'd have a look and and see if I could get some inspiration for what I would like.

While I was looking I stumbled across the dress and I pretty much fell in love:

It is a French Connection dress, from their UK website. Unfortunately it is sold out (I actually have no idea how old it is, as I found it in a Marie Claire photo gallery). But I just love it!! It is so beautiful!

Who knows what I will end up with for the wedding, it won't be this dress, but I definitely love it and just had to share!!

Travel Snap Tuesday: Osaka

I have been very fortunate to travel to Japan, not once but twice. The first trip, in 2009, was with my friend Kat and it was her 21st birthday present from her mum. While we were there we visited Tokyo and Osaka. The second trip was the most recent trip, which was in February 2011. On that trip we visited Tokyo and Niseko.

For today's Travel Snap Tuesday, I thought I would concentrate on Osaka.

Osaka was the second part of our trip in 2009. It started with a bullet train ride from Tokyo to Osaka.

This was an ad for Nintendo DS on the bullet train we caught. The story behind this photo is that 2 really good friends of mine went to a 21st just prior to this trip, dressed identically, on purpose in vests... I tried to tell them that vests just weren't cool, but they wouldn't believe me. THIS IS PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF!!! haha.

We stayed at a really gorgeous hotel in Osaka. The hotel was built around a chapel/chuch.

One of the highlights of our stay in Osaka was the trip to Universal Studios!

Even though we didn't understand any of the shows, or any of the information as it was all in Japanese. We still had heaps of fun running around, seeing shows and taking stupid photos like these:

Osaka was a lot of fun. I look forward to sharing photos from Tokyo and Niseko on another Travel Snap Tuesday!

Something Borrowed...

In keeping with the Royal Wedding Theme, my friend Sian and I went and saw "Something Borrowed" this morning...

It was good... But kind of depressing. Like, I understand the premise and I understand what they were saying. But, personally, parts of it were just really depressing. Having said that though, there were some funny lines and in other circumstances you would be really happy for the "love story" part of the film.

Girlie Marathon!

On Tuesday, I hosted a Pretty Little Liars marathon for my girlfriends who wanted to see the show!! We got through 10 episodes, and by the end they were already asking when we could watch the remaining 12 of the first season!!

I was introduced to Pretty Little Liars by my friend Krystle. She had the first 10 eps and told me to watch them... So I did while I was in Melbourne in January. Needless to say, I was hooked!! Then while I was in Japan I got Sian hooked. And now I have the rest of my girls hooked haha!

Anyway, other than PLL and the company, the other highlight was the food. We pigged out and ate heaps of junk! Donna made us chocolate hot cross buns and they were AMAZING! We had savoury pull-a-parts, a stack of lollies, chocolate, scrolls and chippies.

It was lots of fun and I am looking forward to round 2 on Monday!

See you then girls!!

Things You Might Not Know About Me: Some of my Swimming "Career"

So I thought I would share a bunch of facts about me relating to different aspects of my life. I thought I would start off with "Swimming". I spent the majority of my life in a pool of some description. So why not start there. Here are 15 facts about how I started swimming and the first club I trained at:

  1. I was born on the 19 March;
  2. That makes me a Pisces;
  3. I was always destined to swim - from the age of 2 or 3 I was throwing myself into the deep-end of our family pool. My parents freaked and tried to get me lessons;
  4. The local learn to swim teacher took me and dunked me under the water without warning, I came up screaming and told my mum to "go away, she's not ready to learn to swim";
  5. A year or two later Mum took me to a different local pool to learn to swim;
  6. I spent the next 13 years training at that club;
  7. On my first ever "Club Night" at 4 or 5 years old, my mum made me a catsuit and matching bathing cap for me to race in!;
  8. She made most of my togs right the way through until my teenage years when chlorine resistant togs came out. After that she made togs for me less regularly, but she still did when I asked nicely ;) hehe;
  9. Mum told me the other day that I couldn't do butterfly for a few years. Then on the afternoon before Club Championships when I was 9 - I came home proclaiming that "I've got it now!";
  10. I went on to race the 25m Butterfly at Club Championships and broke the Club Record;
  11. To this day, I still hold two Records at that Club: 9yrs 25m Freestyle (which I also broke at the same Club Championships, and 14yrs 50m Breaststroke;
  12. I wore size 6 togs for racing until I was 12... What can I say, they were supposed to be tight!;
  13. I briefly shared a gym on Saturday's with swimmers like Liesel Jones and Geoff Huegill;
  14. I spent more time dolphin diving during training when I was little than I did "swimming laps"; and
  15. I left that club because the same coach I'd had for all those years left a year or two prior and the new one wasn't my biggest fan and he wasn't as good of a coach as my previous coach!
I plan to keep sharing a few "things you might not know about me" as we go along... But this is the starting point :).

Here are two photos of me racing. I am not 100% sure how old I am in them, but I do know it was Mini's (kind of like the Junior State Titles, before they actually had Junior State Titles...) So I am guessing I was 6 or maybe 7?! This was the age group medley relay. I was doing the Breastroke leg :)

Would love you to share a "something you might not know about me" fact with me :).

Travel Snap Tuesday: Hawaii

I thought for this weeks Travel Snap Tuesday, that I would take you back a few years... OK how about 18-odd years?! Before I was born, my dad won a corporate golf day that my uncle, who at the time was the marketing-something-or-other at TripleM Brisbane, had organised. The prize was supposed to be a round the world trip, but with a few events and then eventually my arrival, my parents couldn't use the prize. So instead they traded it in for a trip for 4 (two years after me, my brother came along) to Hawaii!

While I may have only been 5 (or so) I still have some very fond memories of our trip to Hawaii.

The most touching experience was our visit to the U.S.S Arizona Memorial. The most vivid memory I have is of the wall at the Memorial that lists the names of all those who lost their lives. The list of names just went on and on and on and on. Even at 5, it really made me wonder and reflect.

This is Dad and I at the Memorial:

Other strong memories I have are:

  • of Hanauma Bay and the insane number of fish that were swimming around my feet! It totally freaked me out and I could not deal!! Still freaks me out to think about it!
  • the red convertible my family hired for the week to drive around in;
  • the ridiculous number of Japanese tourist who wanted to take photos of my brother and i; and
  • probably the most hilarious memory I have is the "prank" my bro played on some of the Japanese tourist who were staying at the same hotel as us. We were in the spa one day with them and my brother jumped out, ran around the back of the pool storage hut and turned the bubbles on. Clearly the girls in the spa didn't a) know the spa had bubbles or b) didn't know where the button was! because they screamed and jumped out of the spa. My brother reappears giggling and laughing thinking he is absolutely hysterically funny!! I'm not sure the girls agreed ;)!!!
Having seen "Just Go With It" yesterday, I really, really, really want to go back to Hawaii sometime soon and make more fabulous memories!!

Sunday Afternoon Flick!

My friend Sian and I have been wanting to go and see "Just Go With It" for weeks...

Unfortunately we had a hard time finding a suitable time for both us! So spur of the moment I called her this afternoon to see what she was doing later this afternoon and lucky for me she was free! So we headed over to Indooroopilly for some Gold Class goodness!!

I really enjoyed the movie! Some parts were hysterically funny, others were typical Adam Sandler! But all in all I would highly recommend it. Loved Brooklyn Decker in it! BD, along with Jennifer Anniston and Nicole Kidman made me realise I need to work out more!! LOL - They all have FABULOUS bodies!!!

Instead, we ate Nachos and Bruschetta and drank vino!!! Oops - guess that want to exercise didn't last long ;) haha.

Things I Love: Miami HEAT

I have always been a sporty kinda girl! From swimming from the age of 6 (until I was 21) and playing hockey for 10 years. To trying ballet, tap, jazz, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, volleyball, tennis, netball - you name it I've probably tried it. But I also love watching sport as much as I love playing it!!

Enough about sport in general, although I probably should have a general "Things I Love: Sport" post... I'll do one of those at a later date. But the point of this one is to talk about the Miami HEAT!

On Sunday the "post-season" of the NBA starts!! With results going their way in the last few matches of the regular season, Miami avoided a first round match up against the New York Knicks! Instead, Miami will start their run, to what will hopefully result in the championship ring, against the 76ers!

For those who don't know, each match up of the Eastern and Western conference are the best of 7. So first team to win 4 games progresses.

Everyone talks about Miami's "big-three" - LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh (pictured below). But for Miami to go 'all the way' this year, it is the other players around them that will need to contribute!!

I'm in for an early start on Sunday morning! After working until 1:30am I will be sleeping for a few hours then getting up to watch the game at 5:30am. Sometimes the time difference between the East Coast of America and Brisbane really annoys me!! Haha!!

Lets go HEAT!!!

Dinner and Drinks with Tom!

Last night I went out for dinner and drinks with my friend Tom. Tom and I trained together for years when we were younger. I don't have much contact with anyone else that I trained with, but Tom and I always try to keep in contact and catch up when we can... That may only be once every 6 months, but we make the effort to try, which is the main thing! HA!

I briefly mentioned Tom here. Tom finished school at the end of last year and turned 18 in December, so while there is a 5 year age difference, we are still awesome friends. He is doing a gap year of sorts in Japan, and after the earthquake, tsunami and everything that happened there, he decided to come home for a few weeks to make sure everything was ok. Unfortunately he is going back today and won't be back in Australia until January/February next year :(

Anyway, last night was the first time that we'd been out since he'd turned 18. So after hearing me talk about Iceworks regularly, he was keen to check it out! He wasn't disappointed and loved Iceworks! YES! I've converted another person into an Iceworks lover haha! We ate, drank and talked for 4 and a bit hours, it went by so quickly it is crazy! We could of stayed there another 4, but with his plane leaving today he need to get home, pack and get a good nights sleep.

We had a fabulous night, and I am going to miss him while he is gone. But look forward to catching up again with him sometime in the (hopefully) not to distant future!

Broncos v Knights - Round 5

Prior to the Cowboys game at the start of the season, my boss at work asked me if I wanted free tickets to the game. Unfortunately DonnaMellie and I already had tickets to that game. Seeing as we are all saving this year for different things, we have agreed on a few key games that we MUST go to... But other than those we are saving our $$$$.

As I work most Friday and Saturday nights, I normally can't attend without asking for the night off anyway. So when the Broncos had the Monday night game this week I thought I would like to attend...

So I went to work on Friday and asked my boss if he had any freebies he was trying to give away this week! To my joy he said "I do actually - how many do you want?!"

So my beautiful Mum, Donna, Mellie and I went to the game last night thanks to the free tickets I acquired!

As per usual, we kick started our night at Iceworks with a bottle of champagne, some pizza and lots of giggles. We always have a good time at Iceworks - ALWAYS!! Anyway, after polishing off the champagne, and in my case a cosmo from one of the best cosmo makers I know, we headed across the road to the game.

The game was very stressful and Corey Parker's awful kicking display did not help the nerves, at all! But thankfully the Broncos won their fourth straight game of the year 17-6. Even more impressive is there defence!! They haven't let an opposition score in the second half of any game this year!!

Mellie loves Josh Hoffman, who she blogged about in her latest post (you can find it here)... But my favourite player, purely in an aesthetically pleasing way, is Ben Te'o.

I think he is very cute, what can I say! I also think he is very funny. I particularly love this two part interview he gave on Nova 106.9 (Brisbane) after the Broncos pre-season Army camp.
I particularly love it because I cannot fathom anything worse than the "team bonding" bootcamp they were sent on!!

Anyway, very much looking forward to our next bookmarked game against the Storm in May!! Lets go Broncos!

Travel Snap Tuesday: Melbourne

Ever since I went to Melbourne for the first time as an 18 year old for a friends wedding, I have been in love with the place! I've been lucky enough to travel there 5 times in the last 5 years. There was a trip down for my friends wedding, mentioned above. A trip down for a girls footy weekend in 2008. And 3 trips down for the Australian Open.

During these visits I have taken a lot of photos so I would like to share some of my favourites!

This one was taken from Mecca Bah at Docklands looking out towards the Citylink Tollway Bridge.

This one was taken from Murray's Lookout somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula!

And finally, seeing as 3 of my trips to Melbourne have been for the Australian Open, I thought I would post a photo of Rod Laver Arena. This was a night session match between Fed and Hewitt during the 2010 AO.

Well there we go, I hope you enjoyed this weeks Travel Snap Tuesday! Look forward to sharing more with you soon :)

Travel snap Tuesday is Little Miss Moi's idea and is about sharing a moment in time through a photo (or three). If you want to join in Travel Snap Tuesday, simply post a pic of anywhere you’ve been in Australia or abroad. Head over to her blog and leave a link so we can all enjoy each others Travel Snap Tuesday shots!!

Lola Bear!

Today I had a lunch date with my friend Ang from high school and her gorgeous daughter Lola (my goddaughter)! We went to Iceworks and had a few drinks, some food, and an awesome catch up. It really has been too long since I've seen them!

Anyway, here are two photos from today. Firstly, Lola Bear and I:

And secondly Lola Bear by herself:

She is so damn cute (even if I am biased)! She also has these adorable little traits. I also found out that she likes to spend money. She was very quick to hand my credit card over to my favourite bartender to pay for lunch! haha.

Travel Snap Tuesday: Canada

I've decided to follow in my friend Donna's footsteps (you can find her here!) who is following in Ms Posy's footsteps, who is following in Little Miss Moi's footsteps and post a photo or photos of places I have travelled. I've been lucky enough to travel quite a few places over the years, both in Australia and overseas.

I'm going to start with Canada. In late December 2007, two of my friends Chris and Shaun and I spent 3 weeks travelling around the West Coast of Canada. Two other friends from High School were there too. They did their own thing, but the 5 of us spent a fair bit of time in the same places throughout the 3 weeks.

I'm going to start with a happy snap I took while we were at Whistler.

And finish this weeks Travel Snap Tuesday with a shot I took at Big White. I love this photo so much. The boys are the two friends I travelled with.

I look forward to sharing some more happy travel snaps in the following weeks.

Shatter Me!

My beautiful friend Shanna bought me the Mini Collection of Katy Perry OPI shades!! And oh how I love them!! She gave them to me yesterday when I caught up with her and some of my other girlfriends. So naturally I had to try them!

I decided to try "Teenage Dream" first and then put a coat of Black Shatter over the top giving me the following look:

You can't see it too well in the photo, but the glitter in "Teenage Dream" shines through and gives an awesome look! I love it!!

Thanks Shanna! Can't wait to try the others soon!!

I was wearing Ulta3 "Sweet Violet" so when I picked up my Black Shatter from Lucy Lane Beauty this morning I quickly applied a coat of Black Shatter to test it!
