National Anthems
It was lots of fun!
First up was Bernard Tomic.
Bernie awaiting the Korean's serve
At the start of the match, Bernie wasn't playing that well. He got broken in his first service game, and generally just didn't play that well. Thankfully he got it together and ended up winning the match 7-5 6-3 6-3.
Australia goes up 1-0 in the tie
Up next was Matt Ebden, who was playing his first "live" tie! For those who don't understand this phrase the quick explanation is as follows. In Davis Cup it is a best of 5 series between the two nations. Two singles matches, a doubles match and then the reverse singles. Generally if a team wins the first 3 ties, they will "blood" younger players in the reverse singles to give them experience. This way when the day comes that they actually play a tie that is "live" and counts towards the result, they will hopefully not feel as nervous.
Matt Ebden at the change of ends with Davis Cup Captain Pat Rafter
Matt Ebden played very good tennis! It was great to see him get a crack at a live tie (due to Lleyton Hewitt's latest injury) and in the end he won 6-3 6-3 6-4.
Australia goes up 2-0 after the first day of the tie
We had a lot of fun, as per usual and makes me excited for the Brisbane International and Australian Open in January!! Bring it on!!
